Different...it's not wrong

I love that I get to call America home. I feel it's one of the biggest blessings of my life. Every culture on earth is represented here. This only adds to our beauty and diversity. Personally, I have a tremendous respect for the heart, courage, grit and individuality of our people. Maybe because of this I wonder at times what we're thinking.
Take for instance, this whole Christmas tree vs Holiday tree fiasco that's been brewing this month. For me, calling a Christmas tree a Holiday tree is just like calling a Menorah a candlestick, a holiday candlestick, but a candlestick, nonetheless. How insane that would be! An evergreen tree, highly embued with twinkling lights, tinsel and every manner of decoration is a Christmas tree. I believe if you ask any child in America, they'd agree, and mostly likely, 90% of the adults.
I have to say, I would never dream of renaming any aspect of a religion or culture. Not only is it arrogant, it makes me really ask myself what's happening to us? Why, why does everything have to be ok for everyone? Doesn't that take the different out of different? This type of behavior is like taking a brown paper wrapper and placing it around the tree, covering it up, taking away it's specialness.
You maybe asking yourself, "What's so special about a name? What difference does it make what we call it?" How much would it matter, how much would it affect you, if your name was suddenly not your name anymore? Names have meaning. They have meaning for a reason. Trust me...it makes a difference....on many levels.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas!! If you don't celebrate Christmas, I wish you the happiest, most peaceful year ever.
