You Are Important

I wonder if you realize the importance of you. You are important! I don’t mean, hey look at me, I’m cool or I’m the best. I don’t mean you are more important than the person sitting next to you or the people in another country. I don’t mean the puffed up ego, type of important. I simply mean you are significant. You were created for God, by God, for a purpose. God created you to be his companion. He loves you. He wants to spend time with you. Heck, He wants to spend eternity with you!! That’s an awfully long time for someone to want to hang out with me…hopefully He know what He’s in for, LOL!
God created us with the ability to choose and wouldn’t you know it, the first thing we did was choose wrongly! We gave more heed to our wants and desires, than to His. Think about it…literally right out of the starting gate…Wham…wrong decision. But what does God do, He, in his infinite love, grace and mercy, saw fit to give us another chance. Why? Because we were unimportant? Because we were worthless? No, because He loved us and He had a plan; a plan to restore us to a right, a good, a pure relationship with Him. And, here’s the kicker, guess who He was going to use as His instruments to carry out this plan…us! The very people who had messed up! Go figure…lol
So what’s the plan? He’s perfect and we are not. How can we exist together? God in His perfection can’t co-exist with sin. We needed cleansing and the only one to do it was Him. So, He sent His very own perfect son to die for us; knowing His blood would wash the sins away. But, He didn’t just come, be born and die. No, His plan was better. He wanted us to know He understood what our lives were like. He wanted us to know that He could relate with the weight of our lives. He wanted to be able to say to us, “Hey, been there, done that, got the T-shirt”!! So, he came and lived among us as a man and dealt with all the things we have to deal with. But He did it right! Sinlessly! Yes, He is more than worthy for you to follow. Then He died for you and me, taking on the sins of all mankind, all the sins of the entire world that had ever been and would ever be. He rose from the dead, having defeated Death and reigns now in Heaven.
Now, He didn’t do this as a huge cosmic drama because He had nothing better to do. He wasn’t just hanging out in Heaven, thinking, “Geez, I’m kind of bored today. What can I do to spice things up?” He did it because He did not want to be without us! He didn’t want to live eternally without you! Think about that for a moment. Like seriously, really think about it. Eternity…and He wants to spend it with you! He knows you to the depth of your being, knows all of the choices you’ve made and still chooses to live with you for eternity…always…FOR-EVE-R.
He went to an awful lot of trouble to put a plan into action that would accomplish His deepest desire, to not live without you for eternity. If you weren’t important to Him, I dare say he would have just wiped the slate clean and started over. It would be easy enough for Him to do…Ah, jeez, they can’t follow directions, let me just create a new people, one who will listen and obey. Heck, that’s easy enough for God. But NO…He wanted you to be able to choose Him. He didn’t want a people like the ones we are trying to create…mindless robots, built simply to do our bidding. Tokyo is working hard on those now! LOL No,He wanted us to love Him, because we choose to; to follow Him because we choose to; to work joyfully for the Kingdom because we choose to.
Do you see? You are important. You are so important and so loved that He gave you a choice. It’s all about choice! Your choices are important. All of them. Everyday. You can choose to live for yourself and your desires and what makes you the most happy. Or you can choose God and his deep love for you. You can choose to love Him. Don’t think you can love Him as much as He deserves? You can ask Him to help you love Him more. Weird, huh? But He is God, the ultimate Daddy. He will help anytime you ask, if it is truly from your heart.
So what’s the rest of the plan? Well, when you love someone, you want to see them succeed. You want their desires and dreams to be fulfilled. God’s deepest desire and dream is to see ALL of His children reconciled to Him. He doesn’t want to lose even one. If you love Him, you will want to see His desire fulfilled. But, it’s your choice. You can choose to be part of the dream team or you can watch from the sidelines. On this team the coach wants everyone on the field, in the game…but you get to choose: the field or the bench. So what’s it gonna be? Don’t really get His dream? Don’t know if you can do it? You can choose to ask Him to show you His heart. Ask Him to make His desires, your desires. See the great thing about God and His purposes is this; you are only responsible for your actions, your choices, obeying. He is responsible for the outcome, when you obey. Our team’s mission is to see everyone on the planet given the choice to choose God. Don’t choose to sit on the sidelines. This isn’t practice, it’s the big one. Get in the game!
