It's SNOWING!!!! It is actually snowing in Memphis!! Not the small, melt on contact and turn to ice, snow; but the wondrous, fluffy, large snowflakes that pile up quickly, blanketing everything in a thick, white coverng of snow!!
I, of course, went crazy taking pictures. But, who knows when it will ever snow here again. It's so incredible! I see the flakes falling and see my brother and I playing in the snow when I was a kid. We lived in the northern reaches of New York state. Many winters it would snow so much we'd have 6,8,10 feet of snow. We'd burrow deep into the snow, creating large caves and carving couchs and chairs into them. One winter we dug out a two room space. We'd hang out in there with our friends. It was great!
We spent so much time outside in the snow. Sliding down hills on sleds and tobaggans; skating; and I absolutely loved cross-country skiing. Just me and the snow. Gliding over the fresh snow, the crisp air reddening my cheeks, it was just me and the forest. Wow, how I loved it.
Well, there's no telling how long it will last or when it will return. So, go bundle up and run outside with all the enthusiasm and delight of a small child. Look around and take it all in with wondrous abandon. Throw back you head and catch fat flakes on your tongue. See how big you can make your snowman. Sink into the squooshy blanket, fan out your arms and legs and create one more snow angel. Memphis sure doesn't have enough! ;-)
